Starting therapy

What happens in the first therapy session?

A simple look at what the first conversation can be like.

Before you arrive

You choose your time and prepare a private space. You do not need a perfect explanation of what is wrong or an agenda.

The conversation

You might be asked what brought you here, what life has felt like recently, and what you would like help with. You can also ask about confidentiality, approach, and practical arrangements.

Afterwards

You and the therapist can discuss whether continuing feels useful and what the focus might be. You do not have to make every decision immediately.

These reflections are educational and not a diagnosis or substitute for professional care.
