Why can’t I switch off after work?
When your day ends but your thoughts keep working.

Your mind may still be on duty
Work does not always finish when the laptop closes. You may be anticipating tomorrow, replaying a difficult conversation, or worrying that you missed something. That mental carry-over can make rest feel strangely demanding.
Pay attention to the transition
Notice what you do in the first twenty minutes after work. Are you still checking messages, mentally rehearsing, or comparing what you accomplished with what remains? Those habits may be worth getting curious about rather than judging.
One small thing to try
Choose one transition that belongs only to you: changing clothes, taking a walk, making tea, or writing tomorrow’s priorities on paper. The point is not to become perfectly relaxed. It is to give the day an ending.
If it keeps happening
Therapy can help you examine the pressure, expectations, and patterns underneath a constantly busy mind. You can begin by describing an ordinary evening.
These reflections are educational and not a diagnosis or substitute for professional care.
