Why does my brain replay conversations?
For the things you wish you had said differently.

The loop after a conversation
You might replay a meeting, message, or moment of awkwardness long after everyone else has moved on. Often the question underneath is not “What happened?” but “What did they think of me?”
Rumination can feel useful
Repeatedly reviewing the same moment can seem like preparation, yet it may leave you feeling more doubtful. Not every thought deserves another round of analysis.
Try a different question
Ask, “Is there one useful action I can take?” If yes, take it. If not, try shifting from solving to noticing. Therapy can help you understand what makes particular interactions feel high-stakes.
